The Coton de Tulear, also known as the “Royal Dog of Madagascar”, is a sweet sturdy small companion dog. The Coton de Tulear is characterized by a natural long cotton-like coat, rounded lively dark eyes, and a warm, enthusiastic personality.The Coton de Tulear is a fun, intelligent, playful breed, who enjoys spending time with their human family and friends... whether it's lying at your feet while you work, or going on a walk, they are brimming with enthusiasm.
The name Coton de Tulear comes from it's soft cotton-like coat and originating from the seaport city of Tulear, in Madagascar. A relatively new breed in the U.S., the first Coton was brought into the U.S. in 1974.
Bay area cotons
At Bay Area Cotons, sisters Samantha and Megan are dedicated to raising healthy, happy, socialized dogs. We are proud to be a Code of Ethics Breeder and all of our puppies are registered with the Malagasy Coton de Tulear Preservation Club (MCPC), which is dedicated to the preservation of the unique qualities of our rare breed. Our puppies are purebred Malagasy Cotons.
Nico
Nico is a big beautiful black & white male coton. He is an enthusiastic funny energetic guy. He was born on November 1, 2018 and the largest of the litter, at 18 lbs. He loves people and other dogs, always friendly and ready to play. He is a wonderful easy going companion, always ready for adventure. Everyone laughs when Nico is around.
Nico has passed all of his health tests.
Jasper
Jasper is a darling petite white & tan coton. Megan is disabled and Jasper goes everywhere with her - having him with her helps in so many ways just being himself. He's comforting when you're down and plays and dances with you when you're happy.
Jasper has enhanced our lives in so many ways. He's very smart and picks up on family life habits. He knows when he's in his carrier to be good and quiet. And when we set it down and say "OK" he jumps out and is ready to play. He's always up for walking and exploring new things. He loves playing with other dogs. He ignores cats unless they seem to want to play. He can be amusingly opinionated and has a mind off his own, but comes around to training well.
